Annex 1- Mandatory Conditions
The admission of children to the exhibition of any film shall be restricted in accordance with the film classification awarded by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), or any successor person or persons designated as the authority under section 4 of the Video Recordings Act 1984.
Annex 2 - Conditions consistent with the operating schedule
General
Nothing beyond existing Health and Safety/Fire safety etc.
The prevention of crime and disorder
The premises are kept locked when no hirer is present or expected.
Caretaker lives in adjoining cottage.
All activities are pre-booked. Each booking includes the name of a responsible individual or organisation.
Public safety
The building has a modern fire alarm system and fire extinguishers which are regularly checked. Fire exits are marked. There is a second emergency staircase. Notices are displayed regarding action in the event of fire or gas leaks. The boiler is checked annually. Instructions to hirers include notes on building capacity, clear fire exits, stacking of chairs, accident reporting and first aid box.
The prevention of public nuisance
Instructions to hirers include requests to keep noise down and to close functions by 23.30. Supervision is provided by caretaker living in adjoining cottage.
The protection of children from harm
Children only attend the Institute with parents or responsible adults as part of organised activities, e.g. Mothers and Toddlers Group, Playgroup, and private parties.
a childproof gate is provided at the top of the stairs. There are protective covers on the power points. Hirers are requested not to allow children to play on the chairlift.
